The Adiyogi Divya Darshanam — Everything You Need to Know
The Adiyogi Divya Darshanam is the highlight of any evening visit to Adiyogi Chikkaballapur. It is a 14 to 15-minute light and sound show projected onto the 112-foot face of Adiyogi every evening at 7:15 PM.
During the show, Sadhguru's narration of the Adiyogi story plays while light and projection technology transforms the statue face through multiple divine forms — Ardhanarishvara (the union of Shiva and Shakti), Dakshinamurthy (Shiva as the Guru), and other expressions. Live chanting, classical music, and colour lighting create an immersive, deeply moving experience.
The show is completely free. No ticket, no registration. The open ground in front of Adiyogi fills up — arrive by 6:30 PM on weekends and 7:00 PM on weekdays for a good viewing spot. The show runs regardless of crowd size.
💡 Best viewing spot: Stand or sit on the open ground directly in front of Adiyogi, approximately 30–50 metres from the base. Slightly off-centre gives you a better angle than directly below. Bring a small mat or cloth to sit on — the ground can be cold at night especially in winter months.
What to See at Adiyogi Chikkaballapur
🕉️ Adiyogi Statue Darshan
The 112-foot steel face of Adiyogi is the centrepiece. Stand close and look up — the scale is overwhelming. The detail of the face, the tilak, the matted hair, and the half-open meditative eyes create an immediate stillness. Photography permitted.
✨ Divya Darshanam Light Show
Daily at 7:15 PM. 14–15 minute show transforming Adiyogi's face through light, sound, and Sadhguru's narration. Free. No booking. Cancelled only during heavy rain — call +91 83000 83111 to confirm on uncertain weather days.
🪨 Yogeshwar Linga
The consecrated Shiva Linga next to Adiyogi, installed by Sadhguru. Represents five major chakras. A deeply energetic space — remove footwear and maintain silence inside. This is considered equally important to the statue darshan.
🧘 Meditation Spaces
The open campus is dotted with meditation seats and contemplative spaces. The entire Avalagurki campus is designed to naturally slow the mind. Early morning (6–8 AM) is especially quiet — you can often meditate undisturbed for an hour.
🍽️ Chandramukhi Restaurant
South Indian vegetarian meals — idli, dosa, rice meals, sambar, and filter coffee. Open 7 AM to 7:30 PM. Clean, spacious, and affordable. The filter coffee here is particularly good.
🌺 Mallige Maatu Restaurant
Second dining option on campus with a slightly different South Indian menu. Also vegetarian. Both restaurants are run by Isha Foundation volunteers and maintain high hygiene standards. Try the special Chigali (Sesame Laddu) from the stall near Yogeshwar Linga.
Dress Code and Campus Rules at Adiyogi

Best Time to Visit Adiyogi Chikkaballapur
Adiyogi is open 365 days a year and can be visited at any time. However, the experience varies significantly depending on when you visit:
Evening (6 PM – 8 PM) is the best time of day. The campus is calm, the light is golden and dramatic on the 112-foot face, and the Divya Darshanam light show at 7:15 PM is the experience the campus is built around. This is when Adiyogi is at its most powerful.
Early Morning (6 AM – 9 AM) is ideal if you prefer silence and solitude. Fewer visitors, soft morning light, and the opportunity to meditate undisturbed in front of Adiyogi or inside the Yogeshwar Linga area.
October to February offers the most comfortable weather — daytime 22–26°C and evenings can be crisp. Carry a shawl for post-7 PM.
Purnima and Amavasya nights are special — the campus stays open until midnight and the atmosphere is noticeably different. Check the lunar calendar and plan if possible.
Avoid: Sunday afternoons (3–6 PM) in summer and major school holiday periods — the campus can get very crowded and parking fills up.
How to Reach Adiyogi Chikkaballapur from Bangalore
The best way to reach Adiyogi from Bangalore is by cab via NH44 — Hebbal flyover → Devanahalli → Chikkaballapur → Avalagurki (Isha Foundation). The distance is 65 km and the drive takes 1.5 to 2 hours on well-maintained roads.
Public transport options (KSRTC bus to Chikkaballapur, then auto) are available but time-consuming and inconvenient for an evening visit timed around the 7:15 PM light show. A cab ensures you arrive on time, wait comfortably, and return whenever you choose.
