If there's one trip every Bangalorean has done at least once — and keeps going back to — it's Mysore. The city of palaces is only 145 km away, the highway is smooth, and there's enough to fill a full day without rushing. But getting the timing right makes the difference between a frustrating one-day trip and a genuinely satisfying one.
Our drivers have made the Bangalore–Mysore run thousands of times. This itinerary is built around what actually works: when to leave, where to stop first, how to avoid the palace queue, and how to end the day at Brindavan Gardens just as the lights come on.

The Perfect One-Day Mysore Itinerary
This itinerary is optimised by our drivers for one-day trips. It avoids palace queues, covers the most sights, and ends at Brindavan Gardens for the evening show.
🚗 Depart Bangalore
Leave from Mahadevapura or your pickup point. NH 275 (Mysore Road) is clear at this hour. No traffic through Bidadi.
☕ Breakfast at Kamat Lokaruchi (Bidadi)
Stop at Kamat near the highway for authentic Karnataka breakfast — Mysore masala dosa and filter coffee. 30-minute stop. Budget ₹150–200/person.
🕌 Srirangapatna
Stop for 45–60 minutes. Visit Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace (Daria Daulat Bagh), Gumbaz mausoleum, and the river Cauvery banks. Entry ₹30/person.
👑 Mysore Palace
Arrive at palace by 10 AM to beat the tourist rush. The palace opens at 10 AM. Spend 90 minutes inside — audio guide recommended (₹100). Sundays when palace is illuminated are best but extremely crowded.
🍽️ Lunch
Eat near the palace. Recommended: RRR Restaurant (veg thali ₹150), Mylari Hotel for dosa, or Hotel Mayura Hoysala for a comfortable sit-down lunch. Budget ₹200–350/person.
⛰️ Chamundi Hills
20-minute drive to the top. Visit the Chamundeshwari Temple (800+ year old). The 1,000-step staircase is optional — cab goes up by road. Views of Mysore city from the top are stunning. Entry free.
🛍️ Mysore Market / Devaraja Market
Spend an hour at Devaraja Market — incense, silks, Mysore sandal soap, and fresh jasmine. Great for shopping. Also see the old-style market architecture.
☕ Coffee & Rest
Short break at a café in the city. Vinayaka Mylari or Indra Café near the palace. Rest your feet before the evening drive to Brindavan.
🌊 Brindavan Gardens
Drive 20 min to Brindavan Gardens (KRS Dam). Entry ₹30. The famous musical fountain illumination starts at 6:30 PM and is spectacular. Stay for the full 30-minute show. Don't miss it.
🚗 Return to Bangalore
Depart for Bangalore. Night driving on NH 275 is fast. Reach Bangalore by 10:30–11 PM. Quick dinner at a highway dhaba if needed.
Must-Visit Attractions in Mysore
Mysore Palace
One of India's most visited monuments. Indo-Saracenic architecture, gold-plated throne hall. Sunday illumination is a spectacle.
Chamundi Hills
Ancient hilltop temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari. Panoramic views of Mysore city. The Nandi statue en route is a landmark.
Practical Tips from Our Mysore Drivers
- Avoid weekend trips if possible — Saturday and Sunday see heavy tourist traffic at Mysore Palace. Mid-week trips mean shorter queues and cheaper hotels.
- Palace ticket counter opens at 10 AM sharp — arriving 10 minutes early means you're in the first batch. Arriving at 11 AM means a 30-minute queue.
- Carry cash for Brindavan Gardens — the entry counters sometimes don't accept UPI/card.
- Our driver handles parking at all spots — Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, and Brindavan all have designated cab parking. You don't need to worry about it.
- Best months: October, November, December — the Dasara festival (October) is spectacular but requires booking 4–6 weeks in advance. November and December have ideal weather.
